Support
How can we help?
The app has a full user guide: tap the ? button at the top of the screen. The questions people ask most are answered below.
Contact us
Email support@simpleplaypro.com and put SpeechCue Timer in the subject. Tell us your iPad model, iPadOS version and the app version (shown on the app's page in the App Store or TestFlight), and what you were doing when the problem happened.
Common questions
The speaker display is blank, or the app says "No display"
Check the HDMI cable or AirPlay screen mirroring. The app finds the screen automatically as soon as it connects.
Start is greyed out
There's no time on the clock. Set a time or tap a quick time first.
I can't change the time
Setting the time and quick times are locked while the timer runs. Pause first.
The Sync button stays yellow
It hasn't found another iPad yet. Check that every iPad uses the same show code, has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on, and has the app open. If iPadOS asked about Local Network access, allow it in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.
A message went up on its own
It was waiting in the message box when the timer reached 00:00, so it was sent automatically. Clear the message box if you don't want that.
My message disappeared
Starting the timer clears the message from the speaker display, so send it after you press Start. With sync on, someone on a linked iPad may also have hidden or cleared it.
The speaker display stopped updating when I switched apps
The countdown stays accurate, but the speaker display can pause while you're in another app. Keep SpeechCue Timer open during a talk.
The screen turned off during a talk
The iPad locked itself. Before an event, open Settings › Display & Brightness › Auto-Lock and choose Never.
Before a show
- Set Auto-Lock to Never and plug the iPad in.
- Connect the speaker's screen and check that the app shows it as connected.
- If you're using several iPads, link them with the same show code and give each one a name, such as FOH or Stage left.
- Turn on Stop at zero if you'd rather the timer stop at 00:00 than count into overtime.
