Known issues in 1.4.1
Each of these is fixed for the next release. If something you rely on isn't working and isn't listed here, tell us at support@simpleplaypro.com or on Discord.
- In an HDR show, Syphon, NDI and DeckLink outputs clip highlights at white
With the show’s Range set to HDR, output windows on HDR and XDR screens show highlights brighter than white. Syphon, NDI and DeckLink stay standard range, and anything brighter than white is clipped rather than tone-mapped.
Workaround: Keep shows that feed Syphon, NDI or SDI on SDR, where HDR video is converted to standard range properly.
- A second screen on its own clock can judder for a few minutes at a time
The show is timed to one output screen’s refresh. Another screen at the same rate but driven by its own clock (a projector and an LED processor, say) drifts slowly against it, and for a few minutes at a time it can show some frames twice and skip others.
Workaround: Feed the screens from one clock where you can, for example through an LED processor or scaler that genlocks its outputs. The screen named in Render Health’s Clock line is always smooth, so put your most important screen there.
- On a Mac with 8 GB of memory, a very wide stage can hitch now and then
A stage around 7680 pixels wide with a large HAP fill and live cameras is near the limit of an M1 with 8 GB. In an hour’s test it played smoothly apart from one pause of about a quarter of a second and a few single repeated frames, when macOS ran short of memory.
Workaround: For stages that size with large HAP files, we recommend a Mac with 16 GB of memory or more. On an 8 GB Mac, quit other apps while the show runs.
- On long runs, DeckLink output can repeat or drop a frame every few minutes
With DeckLink in use, the show is clocked by the Mac rather than by the card, and the two drift apart very slightly. It’s rare and hard to see, but possible on a long show.
Workaround: If your SDI chain can, run the DeckLink output through a frame synchronizer.

Release notes
1.4.1 October 16, 2026
- WAV and AIFF files load on recent macOS: no more Media File Error, and their cues get their length
- Countdowns and count-ups on a timeline count from their own start, not from 0:00
- NDI out no longer logs a false “A/V sync drift” warning every ten seconds
- Settings ▸ About shows its four buttons at their full names
- Control cues no longer read “Loading…” in the playlist
- The user manual has 39 new screenshots, in all nine languages
1.4.0 October 16, 2026
- Nine languages: the app and its manual in English, Arabic, German, Spanish, French, Gujarati, Hindi, Japanese and Simplified Chinese
- Arabic reads right to left, while the timeline, Live Deck, canvas, meters and monitors keep left to right
- Pick your language in Settings ▸ General ▸ Language, or follow the Mac
- Help ▸ User Manual opens the manual in your language
- Timecode, ports, channels and cue numbers stay in Western digits in every language
1.3.0 October 15, 2026
- Live Deck: fire prepared clips and looks over a running timeline, with a trigger log you can bake back into the timeline, and a backup Mac that follows the deck
- Layers route to outputs: send a whole track or deck row to any screen, with opacity, volume and blend masters and 18 blend modes
- Loop timelines in their own tabs, a timeline row that switches between them, and Vamp, Hold, Jump and Send markers
- Show control out: cues and markers send OSC, MIDI, MIDI Show Control and Art-Net DMX, and LTC and MTC timecode follow the show
- Text and timers: titles in any font, countdowns, count-ups and a clock
- HDR shows: HDR10 and HLG video play properly, with highlights on HDR and XDR screens
- Outputs: mesh warp and soft masks on every output, any number of NDI outputs, DeckLink at 50 Hz and film rates, and a show frame rate locked to your screens
- New Show from Example, a new clip inspector, Render Health, and a manual that covers it all
- Updates: the app checks every time it opens and offers a new version in a bar under the header, never a window over the show
- MIDI in the Stage Compositor: map Live Deck slots, looks, rows and row faders, and the timeline transport, with MIDI Map
- Fixes: opening the Stage Compositor during a show no longer changes what's on air, LTC from audio interfaces now locks, clips and cameras play every frame, the Timecode Overlay no longer stutters outputs, and lip sync is tighter
- Upgrading: edge blending is off unless a project turns it on, NDI is set per output in the Output Patch Bay, and shows open on Auto frame rate
- Big stages: for a stage around 7680 pixels wide with large HAP fills and live cameras, we recommend 16 GB of memory or more; on an 8 GB Mac it can hitch now and then
1.2.5 September 18, 2026
- Stream Deck plugin expanded to 18 configurable actions covering 121 operations across playlist and Stage Compositor modes: preview transport, per-cue mute, loop, volume, playback rate, video gravity, scale, colour tag and continue mode, plus compositor markers, zoom, snapping, ripple edit and layer editing. Adds around 40 new OSC endpoints. Fixes /compositor/toggle being silently dropped, and layer edits acting on one layer while delete acted on the whole selection.
1.2.4 September 18, 2026
- Fixes the User Manual's screenshots not appearing (Help → User Manual showed broken image icons instead of the workspace and preferences screenshots).
1.2.3 September 17, 2026
- Ships the updated in-app User Manual, which did not make it into 1.2.2. Open Help → User Manual to find the new Stream Deck plugin and Bitfocus Companion setup, the expanded OSC endpoint reference, and how quit protection behaves when you close the app with unsaved cues or live output.
1.2.2 September 17, 2026
- Updates the built-in User Manual (Help menu) for 1.2 — now covering the native Stream Deck plugin, the expanded OSC control surface, the Bitfocus Companion setup, and how quit protection behaves when you close the app with unsaved cues or live output. Companion profile export now includes buttons for Stop Selected Cue, Preview Play, Auto Play, and Project Output, matching the actions available in the Companion module and Stream Deck plugin.
1.2.1 September 16, 2026
- Fixes a problem introduced in 1.2.0: cancelling the "unsaved changes" prompt when closing the window now returns you to the app, instead of leaving the prompt stuck on screen. Quitting with Cmd+Q, saving, and discarding all behave as expected.
1.2.0 September 16, 2026
- Stream Deck: Stop now stops only the selected cue — End All is the panic key. Existing deck profiles must be re-assigned after updating.
- Stream Deck plugin now loads — it previously failed to start and was disabled by Stream Deck — and ships 11 show-focused actions: Go, Stop, End All, Previous/Next Cue, Preview Play, Blackout, FTB, Freeze, Auto Play, Project Output.
- New OSC endpoints: /simpleplay/endall, /stop/selected, /preview/play, /autoplay, /projectoutput, plus autoPlay / projectOutput / previewPlaying status feedback.
- Quitting now asks before discarding unsaved changes, or while a show is live.
- Fixed endless false "NDI A/V sync drift" warnings that appeared even with nothing going out to NDI.
- Playlist progress bar no longer overlaps the cue duration, and follows the cue's colour.
- Program scrubber keeps its red fill when the window isn't focused.
1.1.3 September 15, 2026
- Fixes keyboard shortcuts that did not respond, including the arrow keys for cue navigation and all shortcuts while Caps Lock was on. Adds customizable keyboard shortcuts in Settings → Shortcuts.
1.1.2 September 15, 2026
- Fixes a crash that could occur after about an hour of continuous playback of a single item. Recommended for all users, especially for long-running shows.
1.1.1 September 13, 2026
- Opt-in crash reporting, smoother DeckLink SDI output, safer licence checks, and stability fixes for HAP playback and session recovery.
1.1 September 10, 2026

1.0 August 24, 2026
- Initial Public Beta release
- Multi-format video & audio playout engine
- Stage Compositor with hardware capture and NDI/Syphon support
